1964

Recommend the new book by Michael Sexton, called 1964: A Game, A Season, A State.

Well written and researched tale of football in the late 50s and early 60s. Culminating in the 64 Grand Final. Some good pictures of the old South stars too.

Nice work Nomad, will it be available through the club or somewhere like Dymocks?

Not sure Ben W. I came across it in the AFL Record. Mike Sexton had an article about Kantilla for the Indigenous Round and referred to this new book. Got my copy on-line via Sportswords (Mike Sexton).

Finished reading this last night. As somebody who wasn’t born until about 20 years after our last flag I found this book a real eye opener to both footy and life in Adelaide during the early 60s. Part of me wishes I had been around in the days of 15K crowds at suburban grounds and when the league dominated the local press and public attention.

An excellent read overall and a stirring story.

Highly reccommended.
