Yeah dissapointed Mcleod has gone, thought he had potential to be a good player for us! Bring on some more recruits!

Mitch Bosley, Cameron De Visser, and Tom Redden are an interesting prospect, think some or all of them have been Glenelg FC Juniors!

I like your line up. Our Midfield is very strong & O'keefe back and firing would be a real bonus.

Ainger showed something late in the season in our Fwd line.

Only concern is the lack of height in defence & how Thewlis comes up after his shoulder OP

Ran into a current SAFC player today who I wont name who tells me that young Bollenhagen is burning up the track and setting a high standard for the rest of the playing group to try and follow and clearly has the makings of being a gun player!

On the SGL safooty forum it mentions an ex South Adelaide footballer moving to Port Augusta with his partner. Any ideas on who this may be?

Has anyone heard of any other names that we have added to our squad for this season? Maybe our recruiting is over? hopefully we can jag another one or two good players!

Went and watched crows training this morning for the first time in ages.
Couldnt believe that Irra was training with them! Does anyone know why he is training with them? He cannot be drafted until next season, so did the crows need permission from the AFL to let him train with them?
I am sure he will impress the crows!!
Lets hope he has a ripper season with us before he inevitably gets a chance at AFL level.

Why did he leave in the first place???

At his best fitness level he was great for us.....at his worst not so good!!

I thought he retired??? (or so we are told??) Shocked

At least we got something for him!
He has the potential to be a dominant big man, but his fitness levels last season and some of 2010 looked pretty ordinary. Unless he lifts his game significantly he wont do jack squat at Port!

He told me personally he was retiring to spend more time with his family. It now sounds to me more like it was too hard both physically and mentally for him at South.

I believe that he and Mitch Sandery just did not inspire Ron with any leadership potential. I'm guessing that behind the scenes, they may have been more trouble than he believed they were worth. At the AGM, Ron was very quick to say that their football capability would be more than adequately covered, and that their would be more mature leadership.

As of yesterday, Adam tipped the scales at 112kg, which suggests to me that its more a change of heart than a change of fortune.

I think this is a great pity. We played nearly all our best football in 2011 when he was on the ground. It was he and he alone that said he was retiring and I understand that he told a few people that he was playing at Manumn just to keep people off his back. A loss for us, no doubt.

At his best early 2010 a loss. Based on most 2011 and finals form no loss. He was dropped during the year.
If he's 112 kg would hate to be his heart. But think it does have a little to do with fortune.
Good to see that the financially crippled Port can still find the money when they need to.

From what I have heard our recruiting is 100% done and dusted so no more ins to come.
From our victorius elimanation final side there will be five players gone being Horne, Cockshell, Lyons, Mcleod and Sandery.
Although he didnt play finals Cooke will be a fair loss aswell.
Horne and Mcleod being the biggest losses and even Lyons too.
Cocky just peeved me off in the finals, he was as slow as a goat.
Sandery at his best was dependable and honest.
The ins at this stage are to me a bit on the unknown side. Mcnamara and Bollenhagen( former south juniors) spent the last couple of years on AFL lists and played a handful of games for their respective clubs.
Huollihan from West Coast has played a a dozen or so games and I know very little of Casley from Greater Western Sydney.
Pfeiffer and Watson from North and Port will hopefully add the depth we need.
We also got a few other lads who have been playing Amatuer football but were former Glenelg juniors. One of them ( Redden) was actually a crows listed rookie five or six years ago!
It sounds like we may have potentially covered our losses and come out infront, but time will be the judge of that.
Went to training the other night for a look and noted there seemed a few players injured doing rehab training, hopefully nothing too serious.
They looked pretty sharp and some of the lads seemed to have put on some muscle which is good.
Cant wait until we play our first trial!
