under 18

Post by paul on Mon Apr 09, 2012 8:21 pm

i think our team are in for a very long year the first 3 matchs we have lost each game by more than 20 goals I dont think the sanfl are ever going to change the zones to make it a level playing field.
The only way our league are ever going to win a premiership is by recruiting

I think the under age teams are going to continue to struggle for a few more years yet. The other SANFL Clubs have good junior programs in place which enables them to draw from more established and Aussie rules programs already in place and have been for many, many years.

What ever program the SAFC has in place it is clearly not getting any benifits from the schools and clubs in our zone. This has to be looked into and restructured before we will gain anything from the system we now have.

I know the people who are in charge of our current system are doing all they can to change things around sooner than later, with coaches being changed every couple of years to try and get things happening.

Maybe its time new thought processes were sourced and put into place.

Being on the losing end by 20 goals each week sure is demoralising for the young blokes.

Will it bring out their character or demoralise their skills?

reading the correspondance from the Club; we have the least amount of kids playing footy in our zone all the zones. The SANFl run participation and Glenelg for example have twice the number of kds to select their teams from as we do - until the SANFl fix this, it is going to be hard work for our kids and we will have to rely too heavility on imports to be competitive at league level

As a club we should consider forfeiting U/18 & UA6 games in order to bring attention to our flight. Besides, these thrashings will be destroying the commitment and enjoyment in the game for these young lads who may walk away from not only the club but the sport due to the continual crushing defeats that have no end in sight. The next question is what future outside external recruiting is available to South to secure a competitive league presence in the future.

Its simple solution Those at other clubs who are consistently not getting a game should automatically seek South Name 30 everybody becomes free agent Thers kids at some of the top clubs who would walk into South and improve the whole competition.
