Will Murph be named captain again for this season? I hope so reckon he has grown into the role really well and love the fact he is from our zone!!!!

No reason why he should not.

The way I see it is, if we are to grow as a force in the Southern Region, then we need to have the best locally produced footballer leading our club.

I can think of no one better.

Been good, but still young - Maybe give Thewlis a go for a year or two, then bring Nick back?

Thewlis appointed skipper. Crabb deputy.

Edit: here's an article on it:

Yeah that was a surprise! Good choice though, Josh has been a loyal Southie and hopefully he can avoid nail guns, shoulder injuries and play a full season as he is a wonderful player. I trust Nick Murphy is okay about this as Nick is also a loyal Southie, good young leader and excellent footballer. Crabby is of course a club favourite, more importantly all three are quality blokes.

Gee I have mixed feelings here - no problem with Josh and Crabby both good loyal blokes, but I hope they will still give Murph some responsibilty around the place. Its one thing to be chosen but then a bit of a slap in the face to be replaced.
Murph was highly regarded but his form dropped away a little I thought last year but I hope those rumours about him leaving have no truth to them.
Its all about communication in sporting clubs - plain truth so that everyone knows exactly what is expected of them.

Hopefully he takes it on the chin and let's his footy do the talking! I think he will be much better off without the burden of captaincy.
Concentrate on improving and nick could be one of the best midfielders in the comp!

Yep a bit of a surprise but if leadership or playing group have made the choice as has been suggested then they clearly have more to go on than us mugs.

Whether Thewlis is captain or not would be just good to have him playing.

Anyone been out to training to see how we are going and if new recruits look any good?

Im very pleased with Josh Thewlis as our captain. The guy has shown his loyalty over the years, plays with his heart on his sleeve and is a genuinely nice guy.
He does however need to be a bit more careful around power tools and the like.... : perhaps a career change, something in IT may be a little less hazardous. Shocked
