South v Norwood @ Hickinbotham Oval (Sat N 18/5) 7:40pm

Post by Premier Panther on Wed May 15, 2013 8:27 pm

There has been plenty said offield by the club & comforting to see some accountability being taken & measures taken to turn around our current predicament.

Its now time for the SAFC to make a statement on the field!

What better opportunity to do it against the reigning premier at home.

Is it all talk......or will actions speak louder than words?

I'm doing my best to keep the faith & hoping for a result that will turnaround our season

Monsterous improvement required to be in with a chance! I'd like to think we can knock them off! There not as good as last year at the moment!

Everyone needs to LIFT if we are to have any chance against the legs. Back 6 has been unstable all season cannot seem to find a steady combination. Hartigan and Redigolo seem to be the only consistent performers while the rest come and go out of the side.
Really surprised Crabby is basically a 2nd's player this year begs the question why he was made vice captain if he is not a certain pick each week.

Panthers by 10 points for no other reason than because I want them to win!

The omissions of fields and miller no real surprise. Both have struggled of late. Hopefully Irra can find a bit of that early 2011 form.

The legs aren't going that well, but still 10x better than we have been.

Yes Miller has struggled....I still reckon he needs to play off the back line & provides rebound from our defensive 50.....hoping he regains form soon & pushes back in the league.

I seem to recall, we had a fixture against Nwd at the Parade during the Pyman days.....& if I am correct the round prior we were trounced by the Blues >100 points....The Legs were understandably overwhelming favourites...., but our blokes came out like men possessed & had a stirring victory against Nwd.....so history tells us it can be done.

A dream come true if we can get a similar result.....may just be the impetus to kick start our season again.

Interested to see what type of crowd is there tonight. Going to be a cold one and after the pumping the eagles gave us people may steer clear. Lets just hope the Norwood faithful rock up otherwise we might be looking below 1500.

The Panther Pack will be there!!!!!!

I think not.

Did not manage to get to the game but another loss is not good enough!
Truly I hope our fortunes will turn around in the near future.
I did to envisage a start to the season like this!!!!

At least we had a go I thought our 3 quarter was our best for the season just need to tidy up our forward movement

I thought we played as a team. The third quarter in particular was outstanding. the team looked like they started to address some of their issues. If they are "fair dinkum" it will a good place to build from. Centrals next week will be a true indication of how the rest of the season will go.

Another loss at home.

Bottom of the ladder.

Very few south supporters there.

Team ran out to Norwood's song. (maybe trying to trick players that we were away)

Would expect smaller turnout next week.

Could not fault the endeavour and the boys played for each other and apart from skill errors that Norwood made us pay for i felt if that effort is there every week the season can be salvaged for apart from the top 3-4 sides every other club vulnerable on the day and our best, as shown in the 3rd quarter is very good.

Had a crack but didn’t make the most of the momentum early in the final term. Had the bulk of the footy but couldn’t capitalise, and following that goal from Phillips we dropped away. On a positive note the 3rd term was excellent as we ran the ball well and took some risks, attributes that were badly lacking until half time.

Never much fun watching games against the Legs (18 man floods= rugby), especially when you lose..

Does anybody know the official crowd figure? Whatever it was it would be a concern to the club. One of the poorest turn outs of South fans in recent times. Even the stand was a sea of blue and red.

Well done to the U18s on their win. Ross with 7 keeps up his good start to the season.

Third quarter was great the rest of the game had patches of good effort. Seeing Ben Warren kick 5 made me remember that we should not have kicked him out, we still have room for him.
Our decision making under pressure cost us going forward and we still don't use our open space oval to our advantage.
Some good signs but the season is still quietly slipping away - desparate need for a win next week.
2000 mostly Norwood spectators - thankfully U18's are improving!
