Andrew Jarman

Post by Ben W on Thu Sep 12, 2013 9:43 pm

Rumour has it that Andrew Jarman is an applicant for the Senior Coaching position and is likely to be given some consideration by the club.

Thoughts?

As I recall he took North Adelaide from the lower end of the ladder to the Premiership which they lost against one of the best Central sides going around. He was eventually moved on and coached in the WAFL and has since moved back to Adelaide.

My first reaction is no, yet there is a small part of me that thinks that perhaps his charisma might be actually what the club needs to pull itself out of our rut? We've burnt various rookie coaches and now a proven premiership coach, could it be that someone like Jars might be the better fit for our club?

Yeah not against it he did a decent job at North and I would have thought his personality would be very inclusive for the players but I could be wrong.

We know that he would at least put South on the map.

I just want to see us win more games than we lose!!!

I have always admired Jarman's football ability with his skill and passion. Is he the man for South. He could be, but what if he is not, do we then churn through another coach and start again, or would he be willing to stay for a longer term if he brought success to the players and the club. Strength and stability is what we need now.

The person who I had in mind was Chad Cornes, straight out of the AFL system, knows SANFL football, is tough and knowledgeable, he could be the right type, was Chad around at South when his old man was coaching? but he has accepted a position with GWS, could the club entice him to return?

NO.

if Chad was coming back to SA it would have to be to the Bays, now they have a coaching vacancy.

re jarman.....North couldnt get rid of him quick enough, even when they were broke,,sacking players by text message wasnt a good look apparently.... he had a stint in WA and didnt do that well over there... evidently very keen to land a sanfl job, but please....not at South.

Agree, the time for gimmicks is long gone.

Unless M Blight is available.

Can't see the selection panel picking Jarman but he did turn things around at North. Wouldn't mind him or his brother as skills coaches though.
