Our biggest Rivals

Post by Panther Pack on Thu Feb 06, 2014 6:30 pm

Who do people think are our biggest rivals, not including Port.

For me I would say Glenelg they are our closest neighbours, we got a decent record at their ground, there is the Darley Carey Cup and our marquee Good Friday match looks like being against them every year. Love the Good Friday game.

Had some good banter with bays supporters also.

Prob would then say either North or Sturt after that for no real reason but i don't like them!!!!!!

I think your right with the Bays first then North second, the rest probably wouldn't get a mention, since the end of WWII we have been every other teams whipping post with the exception of '64-'67 and maybe '79-'80 and a couple of season's of Escort Cup where we fielded the best sides we could muster while the others played ducks and drakes with theirs. The Darley Carey Cup is really building a great rivalry between both clubs, something that should never wain.

I have had good banter with West, Port and Central supporters and have found North and Norwood to be the more arrogant of the rest.

2014 will be a turn around with respect offered from the other clubs, we must make them earn a victory over us and come at a cost to them, not lay down meekly as in the past.

The closer the first match gets the more eagerly I await it.

Definitely no. 1 is the bays for me !
Complete arrogant supporters who tend to be "middle management" types ! Abusive , up them self supporters who hate us .... Players who also enjoy spray tans and hipster hair cuts!
From there - dislike North Adelaide ( full of their own self importance ) then Sturt ( used to think they were ok but something has changed in the last few years. Very angry and abusive at the games I have attended plus they would not serve me a beer in around 2005 due to a outside bar under their grandstand being a member ONLY bar!!)

Eagles are another team that seem to have changed for the worst too.

Don't mind - Westies, centrals, port ( never scared at alberton now).

Over all though I think my worst teams now are Crows Reserves and Port Adelaide Power magpie ressies or what ever they decide what is IN at the time.

What are you on about AM, we are all part of the SANFL, have some angry pills at breakfast and enjoy the day, we dont have that many days left to be upset all the time.

Paul, if we won by 10 goals I probably should, as those games are standouts in memory Very Happy

I do remember back in '57 when we were the only team to defeat the real Port Adelaide in the season, I know exactly how you felt.
