South v Glenelg @ Gliderol Stadium

Post by panther magic on Wed Jun 11, 2014 4:40 pm

This Sunday shapes as an absolute must win! Glenelg are going through a rough patch and we simply have to not only play well and win, but play ourselves into form and go in for the kill. I'd love to see our team develop a ruthless streak and not take the foot off the pedal at any stage regardless of the score.

Glenelg have some good young players and some good senior players but don't seem to be cohesive at the moment, so without being disrespectful to Glenelg we lose and we may have to reevaluate where we are at, and our season could well be shot!!

I will be there with bells on hoping we can beat our southern nemesis, and for me a win against this mob is cherished as their supporters have over the years seemed so cocky and confident with not much to show for it!! Go panthers!!!!!!

Time to get our season back on track; Unlucky against Sturt last week; Need to maximise scoring opportunities....am sure Gotcha will address this.

All I can say this week is 'NO MERCY!'

South haven't lost at the Bay since a hiding in 2010, let's hope that streak continues on Sunday.

With Rolfe a likely out I'd probably expect Rankine to come back into the side. C. Daniel, Taylor and Hourigan will be better for the run last week. Anybody know why N. Daniel didn't play on Saturday?

Need a match-up for old man Alleway. Despite being a player I love to hate, credit to him for still providing a target in a struggling Bays outfit. Not sure how his form in the twos has been, but I'm a little surprised Giddings cant get a game ahead of either Crabb or Durdin.

Agree saintal. I think Giddings has been very unlucky not to be selected of late.

The weather could bring both teams closer with rain expected, this will be a tough game as this mob love to beat us as much as we enjoy beating them. My spies tell me the Bays are treating this game with ultimate aggression and commitment, a win at all costs! This will test our mental toughness as much as physical, i think (hope) we're up for it.

On the injuries list Boyd is now out for the season and Rolfe is supposedly out for 2-3 weeks, yet Rolfe is named on the bench for the Glenelg clash??? Communication breakdown somewhere me thinks.

Just have to find a way to win this one..

Im told Boyd has done his other shoulder and is gone for the year. Not sure on Rolfeys status...would be great to see him fit and firing against the Bays,as he usually saves his best for them.

South 14.12 96
Glenelg 7.9 51

Class prevailed, superior skills got us across the line in a hard fought victory.
Looking to improve against the dogs next week.

Really needed the 2 points, so it was pleasing to get over the line. Outclassed the Bays for most of the day, who had their moments but only in patches.

Liddle, Thewlis, Macleod, Rolfe, Cross and Veide named best by the club. Macleod in particular has been very good of late. Still think our key backs are a weakness.

Didn't see the Rolfe 'incident' so cant comment. Alleway's strike was stupid.

Poor crowd of approx 1850.

A win is a win but still think we are far from our best if we want to be competitive with the big boys.
Thought McLeod , thewlis and Liddle best for us.
Forward line needs to improve and feel we did not use it the best we could have ... Mind you it was a average weather day for the forward line.
Always nice beating the bays at home as for years we have received some beltings from them.
Centrals a massive test this week at home.
