1964 Heritage jumper

Post by darley16 on Tue Jul 29, 2014 1:23 pm

The 1964 heritage guernsey is our best jumper ever and should be reinstated as our permanent club jumper from 2015. After years of the club constantly changing the size, design and position of our traditional "SA" logo this wonderful 1964 guernsey has it all right  Very Happy .

Sponsorship logo's etc can still easily be added without distracting from this fantastic jumper. I would implore the club to survey our members on the future look of our jumper that will remain intact for decades and not be changed at someone's whim, a vote can be taken on our preference for 1. current jumper, 2. the 1964 heritage jumper 3. alternative away jumper either hoops or reverse colours as per 2011 (which was the best of the recent jumpers in highlighting a much larger and better positioned SA logo than our current one).

Really hate talking about the jumper issue.......

As long as we win games is all that matters IMO.

Chill out P74

One off Jumpers should not be an issue other than an interest around the club.

I would like to see the club have for sale the replica jumper at a reasonable price for members to buy( other than those worn on the day)as memorabilia from the marketing department.

If they had 100 to sell and sold for $20 over cost price it would be a nice little money earner, they would sell quickly, as the club is in need of as much as it can at present.

Love the 64 jumper as a one-off, but we need sponsors more than ever now we have no money and think 64 design would unfortunately look quite odd with the necessary branding on it.

Agree entirely.. While the jumper for this saturday looks terrific minus the advertising logos, its the way it is these days without sponsors we'd be playing in the Amateur league.

Agree about sponsorship 100%, but i reckon the jumper could support sponsorship logo's and maintain it's integrity. Anyway the current SA logo is too small, in 2010-11 we had it right and the heritage jumper even more so.
Besides this conversation takes me to a happy place given who we are about to play and the possible depressing result, bloody AFL sides in our comp  Evil or Very Mad

I still reckon our foxtel cup guernsey was our best in recent times; The big bold SA made a statement & an imposing presence.

I quite like a few of our guernseys but as stated we have bigger fish to fry!! Like winning more games to start with and sponsorship dollars!! The 1964 replica premiership guernsey looks great but it's time we win and start to forge a new future!!!!

Yep. Seems to be plenty of high 5ing by the CEO about Facebook likes and golf buggys, despite the club going bankrupt. Did anything ever come of that major facility development the AFL tipped some money into a couple of years back?

I'd be interested in others thoughts on the jumper worn on Saturday.
Personally i thought it was brilliant; certainly more emphasis on the insignia, making it more of a statement than an afterthought. I liked the traditional white trim as well. I was wondering if there could somehow be a compromise in keeping the sponsors logos and the larger SA on the front of the jumper.?

I think the club should promote itself better and have some of those jumpers for sale to members.

While the club has progressed with time in jumper design, the '64 design can still be implimented with our sponsors logo'swith the materials that are worn in todays football.

B&W that was what i was saying! We should demand from our Board that this jumper or the Foxtel Cup jumper that both highlighted the SA insignia be returned to it's previous years prominence, sponsorship logo's can still be incorporated into it. Our logo has for far too long been reduced in size and moved to allow for larger sponsorship logo's, i support South Adelaide FC not Angas Securities P/L (i do like Angus Securities a great sponsor).

Personally I loved the sight of that jumper on the weekend and think that framed up that would make a great addition to the home of any SAFC supporter!
