Would be a enormous loss obviously. Unfortunately that's the nature of the SANFL though..talent gets poached.

Could be a lot worse though..imagine him wearing the prison bars jumper against us pale

Shudder the thought.

We have to get used to the idea of local SANFL clubs to be the poaching grounds of AFL clubs.

Good luck to any of the up and comers from South who manage to make the bigger league and go onto better things.

Unfortunately this crap rookie draft could cost the proper SANFL clubs quite a number of players, the majority of whom probably won't play AFL.

I have that horrible feeling today we may lose Eddy and Brooksby in the rookie draft! I hope if taken they do well at their clubs and get an opportunity to show what they can do. We're going to have to plug some holes if this eventuates.

Well at least they won't be playing against us and we freed up some salary cap. Ruckman D Bass, A Cailotto and two metre Peter Steff plus new recruit from Port Magpies. Back line is thin, let's see what Neil Sharpe has up his sleeve, he's produced some beauties for us over the years.

with the greatest of respect Darls..
I think the void left by Brooksby cant be underestimated. He was clearly in the best 2 ruckmen in the league last year, and the other guy, -Baulderstone wasnt picked up. Brookers also won our B&F.
I think that either Bass,Steffe or Cailotto would have to make enormous improvement over the summer to even get close to filling Brookers shoes.

I guess to put a positive spin on it..if we can!......is that for every player drafted today there will be 3-4 others whose AFL dream has been crushed, .......so there maybe a few available, and we can provide a home for them....

Certainly is frustrating. Make some on-field progress only to say goodbye to 3 players via the draft.

I recall Gotch saying that having some guys recruited would be good for the club, as it will make south a desirable option for possible recruits. Again, trying to put a positive spin on this Cool

Mitch Farmer, Scott Dixon and Adam Flagg sign up, which is good timing given yesterday's events.

Let's hope the new recruits can hit the ground running and make an impact! Other SANFL clubs have been continually smashed in the draft so it's up to us to push on and see which players can step up and fill the void. We've still got a very good list and I can't believe Eddy will still be with us, which is a bonus as far as I'm concerned!

Scott Dixon will prove a very handy pick-up he's got a game. Reading about the other 2 lads they appear to have plenty of up-side. I think our forwards ( kept Brett Eddy...phew!) and our mid-field is as good as any. Rucks are okay although will miss Keegan and can't afford any injuries to our limited number of big men. It's our backline that needs recruiting, Ben Darrough will be very good but i reckon that's where we're thin. Tarak and Durdin coming back will be good but losing Thewlis, Field and Dale coming of half back will prove tough to replace.

Reading comment from Neil Sharpe would suggest our recruiting is done, this will give Giddings, Schwartz, Brown etc an opportunity.

Hope the new fellas fit in! Dixon seems like he is a good young player and did well with the Geelong Falcons. Seems like he's handy around the goal. Flagg was on the Giants list three years ago so he must have some talent. Mitch Farmer was playing in the Eastern football league and Is 23 years old. I'm not sure how strong the league is but I'm guessing it must be ok if he was recommended to us? Another defender would be handy!
