Not a bad side DOC, hoping to see Ben Darrou play and with Adam Guilden available it's looking okay, some good strength in the ressies as well.

Couldn't make it there today. People's thoughts?

Happy to get the opening win, and a decent crowd of just under 4K.

Here are my thoughts from the day:

Glenelg started the game with a bang kicking the first 3 goals; Young Koster very lively; After wrestling some ascendancy we kicked into gear, holding a slender 1st Quarter lead.
2nd Quarter was somewhat an arm wrestle with both sides exchanging goals.
Our 3rd Quarter set up the final result, with an impressive 7 goal term.
4th Quarter, although we were against what seemed a slight but stengthening breeze, most Panther Supporters expected our side to kick on, however the Tigers fought back, gave us all a fright....had they kicked straight...well I'd hate to think; The Bays dominated inside 50s in the last, & as a result our forwards pushed up so on the rare occasion we did go forward there were a lack of targets; Best for South Irra, the excitement machine, broke the lines & generated run, Cross ever dependable & all class, Liddle consistent ball winner, small in stature but big in heart; Other notable mentions Veide, Eddy, Rankine, Secull, Bass & impressive first up games for Barnes & Hitchcock.

Great to start the season with a win & believe that's now 7 in a row against the tiges; We looked tired in the last but character to hold on; Plenty of positives to take out the game & also areas to work on.

Disappointing result in the reserves with our strongest team fielded for sometime, expected more.

Great atmosphere & good crowd; Well done to SAFC

Good review PP.

I thought we looked tired in the last quarter too.  Would of hated to see another 10 minutes on the clock !

Still think the Bays have improved since last year and recruited well.  Thought they were quicker than us in many parts of the game.

Few weak links in the side that I am sure Gotchy will look at this week.  I thought we really missed Rose down back.

If we are to beat sides like Norwood, Eagles etc... We definitely have to improve from this game IMO .

Think the interview with Crossy after the game summed up my thoughts about this one.  Good to get the points but still unacceptable in parts of the game.

Happy to see Irra get the RAA award for best on ground .  I have been a critic of his for a few years but looks like Eman has matured in 2016.  Had a cracker of a game!

Cross, Liddle, Rankine best for me.

Good to see Rigby Barnes have a excellent debut game.  Reckon he will be really good for us Smile

Agreed good summary.

I was disappointed that we let them jump us at the start, and with many turnovers across half back. At the end both teams were very tired but it was disappointing that we couldn't score.

Glenelg have improved and are very quick and may trouble quite a few sides. However there was a lot to like and I expect that Gotchy will address the issues. Not sure what to make of the reserves poor showing.

I enjoyed the efforts of Irra Cross and Liddle and Barnes in particular.
Great day for the club.
