Round 7 v Norwood

Post by scott on Sat May 07, 2016 7:12 pm

South 15.12 (102)
Norwood 12.7 (79)

Goals - Eddy 3, Barnes 3, Overall 2, Hitchcock 2, Haren, Liddle, Cross, Rankine, Veide.

Good win in Crabby's 150th. Led by as much as 39 points late in the third and withstood a late Norwood surge in the last after the margin was cut to 10. Cross stood up in the last term and was imo our best - 33 touches, nine clearances. Seccull 21 touches, five clearances and 10 tackles was excellent around the stoppages. Eddy/Overall/Haren combined for six majors - such a good combo up forward. Barnes was once again absolutely outstanding - 19 touches and three goals. Just adds a spark and rarely burns a disposal. We were smashed in the hit outs but Baulderstone struggled to get any of his taps to his team-mates. Cross, Liddle, Seccull and Schwarz just ate up his hit outs.

Hopefully Fieldsy makes a quick recovery - copped some friendly fire from De Visser, who looked visably distressed after trying to pull out Field's mouthguard while he lay motionless on the ground. Was down for a fair amount of time without moving.

Looks like Bassy will cop a little holiday for hit behind the play hit on Smart and the resulting melee might see a few boys lose a bit of coin. Saw Crabby throw a punch or two so hopefully none connected.

Likely to spend a few weeks on the sidelines you'd think.

Good news on Tom.

Entertaining game I thought. Great to notch up another win, especially against the 'back-flippers'.

Nick Schwarz getting better with every game, really enjoying watching him. Thought Cailotto did some excellent work in the air, while Barnes was again lively. South getting very good service out of their 'lesser lights'.

Bass- stupid act. from what I could out of the corner of the eye.

Great to honour Crabby with a win.

The fighting spirit, we've seen all season.
Interested to see the fall out of the all in brawl...further reports (?).....sadly it seems we will lose Bassy. Glad to hear Fieldsy on the mend & is ok after a scare.
Another big test next week, Sturt on their home deck...its been a happy hunting ground for us in recent years....fingers crossed it continues.
6-0 what a dream start....apparently equaling our best ever start during the 1965 season.
