Round 7 - South v Sturt

Post by Choaty on Tue May 10, 2011 5:20 pm

Can the boys bounce back from last week's schallacking?
You'd hope not only that they would respond to Ron's post match comments, and also find that bit of extra heart!
I like being unbeaten at something, so PLEASE can we go three from three at home under lights.

Thankyou.

Rrrrrrrrrrrooolll Caaaalllllllll?!!!!

We will all be back home again this week, dont worry about that.

I'm sure that Ron will put the best team on the ground for this game against Sturt, one that we desperately need to win and win well, although I will take a win by a point if necessary.

Wins in all grades is long overdue, lets get behind them all.

Wont be an easy game at all! In the past Sturts skills have ripped us to shreds. Against West we played with next to no intensity cohesion and work rate, that has to lift out of sight if we are to win this one!
There are many facets of fooball that a team has to be doing well to play well.Obviouisly skills, workrate and the little things like sheparding for your team mate! dont just stand there and watch your team mate get hammered while getting the ball, get in there and get numbers around the contest!
Lets get stuck into them south and come away with a good win!!!!

Bass deserves a go, he may not be in brilliant form, he is on the power list so he is getting intense training I presume, and is a big body, these blokes need to be pushed a bit to see if they are going to cut the mustard at the next level.

I think he will surprise many of us.

Brooksby will have to shoulder a lot more now, then again some do better when they know its up to them.

Well one forced change at least, so wothout cocky it will make it tougher!
Not that cocky has been playing anywhere near his best!
Bass will more than likely come into the side, well he will have to, Brooksby is still very green and would not be able to shoulder the ruck alone.
Looking forward to this game and hope to see some of the lads who were way down on form last weekend put their hand up and show us what they can do in response to an insipid performance!
Saturday will be a football odyssey, i'm off the crows first and then striaight down to Noarlunga to see the real game!!

Maybe throw Ainger in the ruck bring in Tarak and young Tom Johnson then hope like mad that what we saw against Westies was just an aberration. We will miss big Adam for sure but surely player pride will lift under adversary, if not more tears before bedtime!

Good to see Redigolo in the squad and that Rolfe has been named in the Reserves.

Great win...took my 6 and a half month daughter to see her 1st South game.

Well...she is my lucky charm now. Very Happy

Nothing feels like a win over Sturt....I walked out the ground to see even Sturt supporters fighting each other.

Hats off to the club and marketing man 'Ossie', the fireworks after we score a goal and the final siren is enjoyed by us all.

Agreed P74, there is plenty that could be brought up about Unley Oval or should I say Dog Shite Park. For starters they have removed the top corner of the oval to put in Tennis Courts and made it shallow on one side, they then have no room for spectators across the oval and have to hope that the people playing tennis will throw them their ball back so they can get on with their game. Parking, Catering and facilities at the ground are the worst in the SANFL with no hope of improvement, clearly it really helps the club win recruits when they lob in there and see the standard of their training facilities. Their "Barzaar" Club on Unley Rd is a joke and should be put out of its misery. Their so called deal to play matches at Adelaide Oval has fallen over for the second time, so one might suggest that instead of sledging the SAFC, that Sturt members have plenty of problems to deal with. Fortunatley dealing with those issues means a move to Mt Barker which will never happen leaving them kneecapped until the pressure sets in once again for the SANFL to go to 8 teams, what a bugger about that one club deal at the Magpies that has kept them going, seems fairly obvious which side is going to be under the most pressure to remain in the SANFL.

Last night was a great indication of how our club is developing. We've got a fair way to go, but we are definitely on the right track. Terrific atmosphere, really well done, I just loved the look on the kids faces when we kicked a goal, they all knew there would be fireworks. It's something they will all remember about going to Norlunga at night. Really good win.

the pleasing thing for me in the 3 wins is that we have kept attacking and looked threating when sides have come us and looked like a real chance of stealing victory. the last couple years our run would have completely stop and we would have lost at least one of these games.

Great to get another win! Players and supporters were stoked when the final siren sounded!
Lots of positives, still plenty to improve on!
Now to dig deep and lift the bar and face the dogs!

That win was all about team character, to come back after a thashing the week before, playing a desperate opposition, our number 1 ruckman out, players injured during the game therefore limited bench, loosing the lead late in the game and despite all this get up and win! Brillant!!!!
This team needs that belief in themselves every game, as supporters we can see it, they need to believe it. We are improving as a club and we are on our way as a team, we owe a lot to all those that kicked us when we're down, we're starting to stand on our own two feet and now we have some kicking to do!
